0.61 G) is less sensitive, meaning that only the most aggressive driving events will break the rule, triggering driver feedback. 0.47 G) is more sensitive and means the rule is easier to break. When setting up harsh driving rules in MyGeotab, adjusting the level of sensitivity will affect when feedback is given for a harsh driving event - either a beep or a spoken alert if you have GO TALK installed. You can access the settings from Vehicle Edit > Driver Feedback tab. See also: What is a connected car How g-force relates to harsh drivingĪs mentioned, you can configure the Geotab telematics Device to produce immediate audible feedback in response to excessive driving behaviors such as harsh acceleration, harsh braking, and harsh cornering. Since this is just a different scale for measuring acceleration, it not only applies to gravity, but can be used to quantify any acceleration. On Earth, the acceleration of gravity generally has a value of 9.806 m/s2 or 32.1740 f/s2. Gravity is measured in metres per second squared, or m/s2. It’s what keeps our feet firmly planted on the ground. 1G is the acceleration we feel due to the force of gravity. G-force and accelerationīefore we get to the software, let’s talk about g-force. In fleet management software like MyGeotab, harsh driving - when accelerating, cornering or braking, for example - is defined in terms of g-force. If the planned 600-mile (966 km) race had taken place, the drivers would have gone back and forth between 5 and nearly zero g a total of 800 times.A question we get asked frequently is: “How do g-force values relate to real world driving habits?” It only takes about 4 seconds to make it down the backstretch before the next turn and another 6.5 seconds of almost 5 g. The Texas Motor Speedway is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long: The front stretch is 2,250 feet (686 m) long, and the backstretch is 1,330 feet (405 m) long.Īt 230 mph (337 f/s), the drivers take about 6.5 seconds to go down the front stretch, and then they are slammed by almost 5 g of force for the next 6.5 seconds as they go around the turn. Even more impressive is how long these drivers tolerate this kind of force. Even the space shuttle only develops 3 g when it takes off. This level of acceleration is higher than most people ever experience. Final Thoughtsĭrivers take an enormous amount of punishment on a track like this. The amount of downforce is amazing - once the car is traveling at 200 mph (322 kph), there is enough downforce on the car that it could actually adhere itself to the ceiling of a tunnel and drive upside down! In a street-course race, the aerodynamics have enough suction to lift manhole covers - before the race, all of the manhole covers are welded down to prevent this from happening!īetween the downforce and the g-forces, well over four times the weight of the car holds the tires to the track when it goes around one of those 24-degree banked turns at 230 mph. The downforce keeps the car glued to the track with a downward pressure provided by the front and rear wings, as well as by the body itself. A Champ Car has spoilers like upside-down wings, providing the opposite of lift: downforce. The car's aerodynamics also create significant downforce at 230 mph. Together, 2.84 g (or 2.84 times the car's weight) push down on the car during the turn, helping it stick to the track. In addition, a portion of the 1 g from Earth's gravity also puts some weight on the tires: 1 g x cos24° = 0.91 g. So, with a 24-degree banking, 1.93 g adds weight to the wheels. To figure out what portion of the g-force gets adds weight to the tires, you multiply the g-forces by the sine of the banking degree. Traction is proportional to the weight on the tires (the more weight, the more traction).īanking a turn allows some of the g-forces created in the turn to increase the weight on the tires, increasing the traction. If a Champ Car tried to make a flat turn at 230 mph, it would slide right off the track because it doesn't have enough traction. The banking doesn't affect how we calculate the g-forces on the driver, but without the banking, the cars could never go around such a tight turn at 230 mph. The Texas Motor Speedway has 24-degree banking in the turns. How can the car stay on the track under this kind of force? It's because of the banked turns. 151 / 32 = 4.74 g experienced by the drivers. The acceleration due to gravity (1 g) is 32 f/s2. To make Max’s face be revealed by the Island, head into Stinky’s Diner, and use the Sea Snail on the Gong. Max will use the Banang to make the water into something tasty, completing one of the tasks. Run back to the Underwater Cave and use the Banang on the Ceremonial Urn. Then run back to Bosco’s Inconvenience and pick up some Banang. Then use the Speaker to pretend to be aliens and scare Bosco into hiding. Use the Radio, and tune it until you hear Bosco’s voice. To turn the water into something tasty, run to the far left of the cave to the Sunken Plane’s Radio. The feet should dance, Max declares himself the true High Priest, and you have completed one of the tasks. While Max is under the feet, quickly use the Conch Shell on the Gold Portal. Run back into the Underwater Cave and tell the Monkeys that you wish Max to be anointed. After a short cutscene plays, shoot the medium Silver Gong next to the Middle Head. Then run back to the surface to the Moai Heads. To be Anointed by The Feet, first use the mallet on the Gold Gong in the Underwater Cave. Just pick the options one by one, it doesn’t matter which. Once inside the Secret Cave, there will be a short cutscene followed by a forced talk. You should now have access to the Secret Cave. Now fill the Glass from the Fountain of Youth and give the Glass to Baby Hoffa. Then, while the Middle Head is whistling, shoot the Buried Head. Then run back to the Moai Heads, and use the Conch Shell on the Middle Head. Then run to the far right, and shoot the Large Gold Portal next to the Fountain of Youth. Take out your Big Gun and shoot the Large Silver Portal next to the Buried Head. Now walk to the right, until the Portal Triangles are in clear view. Once you succeed head back to the portal area and talk to Baby Hoffa, telling him that you have completed his task. To complete the mini-game simply lean back and forth, taking care not to drop the baby bottle while avoiding the bottles thrown at Sam’s head (how rude). Head back to the Tiki Bar and use the Waitress’ Tray on the Bucking Surfboard called “Wipeout!”. He will refuse it, and set you the task of balancing a waiter’s table on your head while riding the bucking surfboard. While there, give the full Glass to Baby Hoffa. While you’re there, fill up the Glass with a random drink, it doesn’t matter which, and head back to the Portal Area. If you do the above two tasks, Baby Miller will give you a Conch Shell. To make the train whistle noise for Baby Miller pick up the Glass on the Tiki Bar, then use the Glass on the Water Dispenser, then use the now full Glass on the kettle hanging over the fire. While you’re at it, grab the mallet – you’ll need it later. Walk to the far left to talk to the baby next to the fire it’s Glen Miller! Talk to him about his music, and he’ll give you the task of finding new sounds for his music: a train whistle, and an electronic tune. Once the introduction cutscene has played, head to the left until you talk to the baby waving a gun it’s Jimmy Hoffa! Once you’ve talked to him to your hearts content, walk left again, and click on the Tiny Tiki sign. Once you have it, head back outside and use the Red Stop Sign on the Red Triangle. Once there, head to the far right and pry the Stop Sign off the wall. Immediately run back into the street, and cross the street into Stinky’s Diner. He will also say that the Triangles are big on shapes and colours. Bosco will tell you you need a Red Octagon to make it stop whatever it’s doing. Ask him about the Triangle, then ask how to stop it, then ask how to communicate with it. Once the cutscene ends, immediately enter Bosco’s Inconvenience, where another cutscene will start and immediately open a conversation with Bosco. All-in-all, this is a good, clean, hotel, that had everything we needed for our short stay in Morro Bay. There is a pretty cool hot tub room to relax in, but this is not really that important to me to have on trips. The microwave and fridge are in the closet. This is sufficient fuel to get going in the morning. However, there is some fresh fruit, cereals, milk, juice, assorted rolls, and chocolate muffins (for the kids, I guess). I presume this is for kids.neon colored, sugary. The only yogurt they have is ”Trix” yogurt. The breakfast is not that great, but they do have a waffle maker, which can be fun for kids. There was minor thumping from the upstairs room, only occasionally, and it never bothered us. If you want a view, request a balcony room in the upper floor (but you will have to carry all your luggage up stairs). We were in a downstairs ”balcony room”, which doesn't get a great view of the Rock, just partial view. There doesn't seem to be any air conditioning (only a heater), so the room gets stuffy unless you leave the window open (which lets in outside sound, too). If you overdo it, just add some more tequila to dilute it.Įrin’s recipe calls for 1 1/2 ounces of the jalapeno tequila, but I decided to cut this back to one ounce and add 1/2 ounce mezcal to play up the smokiness of the pineapple. The longer you let it sit (and the more jalapeno you use), the spicier it will be. Though Erin recommended letting the tequila infuse for 12 hours, I tasted it after only one hour and thought it was spicy enough for me. Since I didn’t want to make a lot, I poured about 4 ounces of tequila blanco into a mason jar and added half a jalapeno, sliced. This also needs to be made ahead of time. It’s the first time I’ve made it, but I can already see myself experimenting with it in lots of cocktails. On top of that, this margarita uses jalapeno-infused tequila.
